Pitt heading to Continental Tire Bowl

, PA (Sports Network) - The University of failed to capture a share of the Big East title on Saturday night, forcing the Panthers to accept a bid to the Continental Tire Bowl. lost 28-14 at home to the 10th-ranked Miami Hurricanes. A victory over Miami would have given the Panthers (8-4) the Big East BCS bowl bid.

's opponent will most likely be the Cavaliers. The Continental Tire Bowl will be played on December 27 at Ericsson Stadium.

Virginia is coming off a huge 35-21 victory over rival on Saturday afternoon.

Last year's Continental Tire Bowl saw Virginia pound in front of a huge crowd of over 73,000, the largest for any non-BCS bowl game.
